With hypertension, diet is a key aspect. In addition to reducing your salt intake directly from the salt shaker, you should start paying attention to the composition of the foods you buy, especially ready meals and snacks. Very often they contain gigantic amounts of salt. Highly processed food, fast food, salty snacks and chips should be rejected.

Fatty cheeses (especially yellow and mould cheeses), fatty meats and cured meats, ready-made sauces and soups as well as concentrates are also undesirable. It is also necessary to give up sweets. In hypertension, it is advisable to limit the consumption of white bread, rice, pasta and other products made from wheat flour. A high intake of egg yolks and smoked fish is also not recommended.

What to eat to lower blood pressure?

The best diet to treat hypertension is a fruit and vegetable diet. You can also indulge in animal protein in the form of lean poultry meat, egg whites and fish. The ideal way to prepare food is by boiling, stewing and steaming. If possible, eat raw vegetables and fruit.

The foods that lower blood pressure include in particular: spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, beet, celery (celery and celery root), peppers, onions, garlic, radishes, green peas, Chinese cabbage and salads. Among the fruits stand out: cranberries, chokeberries and lemon.

In hypertension, it is worthwhile to naturally supplement vitamin C and potassium. Products containing large amounts of vitamin C are parsley, Brussels sprouts, peppers, gooseberries, apples, raspberries and strawberries. Bananas, tomatoes, apricots and plums (especially dried ones) as well as legumes are rich in potassium. Occasionally you can indulge in a piece of dark chocolate.
