When going to the water, remember about special shoes for water – it is the basis of safety. Beaches and bodies of water are unfortunately polluted and it is easy to cut yourself with a piece of glass or a sharp stone. Such footwear also protects against slipping
More and more people decide to relax by the water in shoes. Water shoes, which until recently seemed to be an unnecessary luxury, or even a quirk, today have become commonplace. No wonder – beaches, lakes and rivers are increasingly polluted, and foot injuries are part of the holiday risk. Water shoes protect against sharp stones or gravel on the bottom, dangerous debris such as glass or cans, slippery surfaces, and sea urchins living in the water.
Today, you can choose from a variety of water shoes in shoe and sporting goods stores. You can find boots with hard or soft soles, rubber boots or boots made of special materials, laced, Velcro or zippered. Women’s water shoes feature soft feminine designs, while men’s water shoes come in muted, neutral colors – there’s something for everyone in our wide range.
When buying water shoes, pay attention first of all to the thickness of the sole and the type of attachment to the foot. Rubber shoes adapt perfectly to the shape of your foot and provide excellent protection against slipping. So they are ideal for swimming, but if you intend to spend most of your time at the beach, they may cause some discomfort
Fabric water shoes are made of sturdy, durable, breathable, water- and dirt-resistant materials – ideal for beach and seashore walks, swimming and water sports
Water shoes with hard soles are ideal to protect against sharp stones, glass and sea urchins – they are recommended for slightly more difficult underwater terrains. Those with a soft sole provide optimal grip on the ground and are ideal for water sports such as kayaking and surfing. Water shoes with toes provide a perfect fit to the foot – in them you can almost feel like you are barefoot.
Swimming shoes should not be loose, as they can slip off in the water. At the same time, however, they should fit snugly to your foot to ensure full comfort of movement, especially when your foot swells from the heat. Ideally, there should only be a slight amount of slack in the toe inside the shoe
Children’s water shoes should also fit snugly on the foot, but should not be too tight to prevent sand getting inside them from irritating delicate children’s skin. It is best to choose shoes with a Velcro fastener for your child – they are quick to put on and take off, and you can adjust the tightness during the day to ensure your child’s comfort and safety. Remember to shake the sand out of them regularly.
Finally, a good tip – go shopping for water shoes in the afternoon or evening. Then the foot is a bit swollen and tired after a long day, just like on hot days at the beach. By buying shoes for rested feet on a cool day, you may later have trouble putting them on during the heat of the day when your feet are slightly swollen.
