Low temperatures, humidity and cold weather do not serve the skin of the hands and claws. How to strengthen them during the winter and keep them in good condition?
One of the most important ways to keep your nails in good shape is to take care of the right levels of minerals, vitamins and nutrients in your body. Supplemented micronutrients should include substances that strengthen the nail plate, such as biotin, vitamin B12, folic acid, zinc, vitamin A, silicon and molybdenum.
In addition to supplementation, it is also a good idea to enrich your daily diet with products that contain the listed nutrients. The list includes yeast, soybeans, chickpeas, spinach, chicken eggs, parsley, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, yellow cheese, fish and kale, among others. Experts also stress that proper hydration is an important aspect. This keeps the nail plate from becoming brittle and splitting.
Strengthening the nails is also the care processes that should be applied regularly. One such process is oiling the nails and cuticles. This cosmetic treatment is best applied at night, so that all the minerals have time to be absorbed deep into the skin and nail plate. Natural oils not only moisturize the skin, remove discoloration, reduce brittleness of nails, but also make the plate more flexible, strengthen it and protect it from drying out, which is especially dangerous in winter.
The process of oiling nails has two schools. The first is based on hot oiling, that is, soaking the nails in a pre-heated preparation. Soaking time is about 10 to 15 minutes. According to experts, the higher temperature increases the absorption of oils. Hot oiling should be done at least twice a week.
The second method involves rubbing the oil into the nails and cuticles daily. This process should be done both in the morning and in the evening. Among the recommended products, experts point to castor oil, argan oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, olive oil and shea butter.
The last way to strengthen nails for winter is to use specially formulated cosmetic products. One of them is a nail plate nourishing polish. There are several products of this type available on the market, the best are those that are prepared on the basis of natural ingredients. Synthetic conditioners are applied directly to the nail plate, once a day, each day adding another layer. It is worth remembering not to wash off this type of products containing acetone, which destroys the nail plate and dries out the skin.
Regenerative conditioners can also be used as a base coat for nail polish. This way the protective layer strengthens the nail, and the nutrients and minerals it contains will be effectively absorbed into the nail.
