6 uses of baking soda in home cleaning

Baking soda is a product that can be found in every kitchen. It can be used not only for cooking, but also for cleaning!

Baking soda is a product that many housewives cannot imagine life without. It can be used for a variety of things. In the kitchen it is often used for baking various sweets. It is worth knowing that it is suitable not only for culinary purposes. It can also be an excellent and cheap at the same time cleaning agent. In addition, it is great for absorbing unpleasant odors.

Soda for cleaning the oven

The oven is an appliance that is quite difficult to clean. Damp spots and burns that are hard to remove, it is worth treating with a paste made of baking soda and water. Add 2-3 tablespoons of water to half a cup of baking soda to make a thick paste. Then spread it over the entire surface of the oven and leave it for several or even several hours. After this time, we rub off the dirt, which should be easy to remove without scrubbing.

Washing soda

Perfectly clean and white clothes? Here, too, soda will help. Just pour a glass into the washing machine and turn on the selected program. It will even get rid of stubborn stains and unpleasant odors.

Soda for cleaning the couch

It turns out that even a couch can be cleaned using soda. Just spread baking soda all over the surface of the furniture and spray it with warm water. After three hours, vacuum the couch thoroughly. There should be no trace of dirt! For tough stains, it is worth scrubbing the fabric for a while and leaving the powder on a little longer.

In the case of a couch, it is worth checking beforehand whether soda will not discolor it. Therefore, apply a little powder with water to a not very visible place. If nothing happens, then you can clean the entire piece of furniture with it.

Soda for cleaning grout

Grout has the property that it is easy to get dirty, and hard to clean. Very often an unsightly brown or green tarnish appears on them. To make them look like new again, all you need to do is apply a paste of baking soda – it is important to apply it thoroughly into the joints. Later, the paste is sprayed with water and vinegar. The whole thing should start foaming. After 5-10 minutes, we thoroughly scrub the joints with a brush and wash with water.

Soda will also clean the iron

Burned iron foot is a common problem, as well as a clogged steam nozzle. In that case, simply mix a tablespoon of distilled water and two tablespoons of baking soda. Apply the paste to the entire foot of the iron and leave it for about 15 minutes. After this time, we remove the baking soda with a wet cloth (gently scrubbing the soiled surface). Finally, we wipe the iron with a dry sponge and we’re done!

Soda for cleaning the dishwasher

Few people remember that it’s a good idea to clean the dishwasher at least once a month. This can be done using baking soda. Just pour a few tablespoons of baking soda inside the dishwasher and turn on a short program with high water temperature. You can also pour some vinegar in there beforehand. However, it is important not to combine baking soda and vinegar at the same time, because the whole thing will foam a lot.
